Fatherhood Festival  Hosted by

1. What is the Fatherhood Festival?

The Fatherhood Festival is a full day event of trainings, workshops, seminars, roundtable events, awards ceremony, and keynote addresses for male parents and mentors. The Fatherhood Festival is always the weekend before Fathers day. Traditionally male parents have not been given the opportunity to learn about parenting children. The Event will be on June 7th, 2008 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1107 Arch Street from 9am to 4pm.

2. What is the mission of the Fatherhood Festival?

The Fatherhood Festival has a three part mission. The first part is to educate and re-educate fathers and father-figures on parenting and child development. The second part is to provide an array of resources and consistent services. These resources are to help complete the foundation that is needed to sustain fatherhood/parenting. The third part is to change the stereotype of Fatherhood. Area radio, newspaper, and television are invited to attend the event to promote a positive influence on Fatherhood.

3. What is the objective of the Festival?

The main objective is to meet the goals of the mission. By combining the three parts of the mission together; parental education, consistent resources, and positive influence, we will transition into a stronger world. It is important for every community to reinforce how important fatherhood is to the children, family, community, and world.

4. What are the different tracks or subjects?

Yes, there are 5 different tracks for this event. The different tracks are Parenting, Financial/ Money Management, Health and Wellness, Employability/Life Skills, and Healthy Relationships & Communication.

5. Who should attend the Fatherhood Festival?

We ask all Fathers and all Father-figures to attend the event. Fatherhood is not segregated by race, creed, religion, or color, and neither are we. All males who care for children, or wish to connect, need to attend. Father-figures are step-fathers, grandparents, care-givers, older brothers, adoptive parents, and mentors. Women are also invited to attend, information is focused towards males. Social workers, practitioners, and political representatives are encouraged to attend.

6. What is the cost of the Fatherhood Festival?

The Fatherhood Festival is 100 percent free to registered participants. The entire event is sponsored primarily by several outside agencies and Daddy UniverseCity.

7. What would a company or organization gain by sponsoring the Fatherhood Festival?

The 2006 Fatherhood Festival was attended by 150 males, 4 states, and 11 resources. The 2007 Fatherhood Festival was attended by over 300 males, 8 states, and 18 resources. The 2008 Fatherhood Festival is poised to greatly exceed these amounts. Organizations will have the ability to service, market, and advertise to all whom attend. Also, some sponsors will receive a complete outcome report of all serviced at the event. Companies have also received updated information on potential customers.

8. Where does DU get their funding?

Our workshops are facilitated by the best in the industry, and we are thankful they provide us with their time and knowledge. Our community and world benefit from support from people like you.
